Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743

into a very wealthy family in Virginia. He lived an ordinary life until his father Peter Jefferson died in 1757. Jefferson then attended the College Of

William and Mary. During his college years he studied law with his professer George Wythe. After years of studying law, he was soon elected on The Virginia House Of Burgesses.

The Begining

The Start To His Career

During his time apart of the Virginia House Of Burgesses, he married Martha Skeleton. He then had a daughter, he and his wife named the baby Martha. After 2 years, he wrote a summary to the British Bill Of Rights. After he wrote the Bill of rights, he then retired from practicing law. After he retired he was offered 11,000 acres of land and 135 slaves from his past job. He then had another daughter, her name was Jane Randolph.

Getting Elected

Shortly after his daughter Jane was born, she died of natural causes. During his mourning, he was elected to be a delegate on the Virginia House Of Burgesses. This meant he could review laws and either vedo them or pass them. A year later her revised the Bill Of Freedom Of Religion. The law was then passed by General assembly. A year later he drafted The More Diffusion Of Knowledge.

He then started to write notes for the State Of Virginia, after his notes her was elected to the US congress. During his time on the US congress, he served as a U.S minister. After 2 years, he was elected as the secretary of the US. He served as the Vice President for President John Adams. At the next US election he ran for president. He suceeded, and he is now known as the 3rd US president.
