All Riley Elementary staff members will participate in the suggested steps of Schaffer and Anundsen to transform the negative school culture aspects to positive.
Additionally, we will work together to bridge the gap that exists between administrators and teachers through consistent expectations and open dialogue.
Both intercultural communication and the consensus decision making process foster participation in Schaffer and Anundsen's suggested steps of building relationships.
Intercultural communication requires people to depend on one another playing different roles during conversation: speaker, listener, interpreter.
Consensus decision making is all about using the process to make decisions together. If people do not commit themselves long term to their own, one another’s, and the group’s well-being, then the consensus decision making process was in vein.
A form of communication that aims to share new information across different cultures and social groups.
This will help with the change initiative if stakeholders seek to understand how peers act, communicate, and perceive the world around them.
A group decision making process in which group members develop and agree to support a decision in the best interest of the whole.
This will help the Change Initiative Process if stakeholders work collaboratively together to reach an acceptable resolution that can be supported
by all stakeholders.

The Change Initiative Committee will facilitate the faculty share topics of discussion, mediate the discussion, objectively record feedback, and consolidate goals and actions steps in moving forward.
Students will not be directly involved with the discussions of the staff and Change Initiative Committee, but student feedback will be play a vital role in knowing how they are feeling throughout the change process.
