1933

Eunice Waymon known as Nina Simone was is born in Tryon, North Carolina on February 21, 1933

1950

Eunice's family moves to Philadelphia (Pennsylvania, US); examination for admission to the Curtis Institute of Music but was later rejected.

1954

Eunice takes a job as singer-pianist in Atlantic City (New Jersey, US) at the Midtown Bar and Grill and

it was then she decide to use the stage name Nina Simone.

1959

Single "I Loves You Porgy" reaches position 2 on Billboard R&B charts

1962

Simone's husband Andy Stroud becomes her manager; Her child Lisa Celeste Stroud is born.

1968

Single Why (the King of Love is Dead) enter US R&B chart at #16, in UK R&B at #20.

2003

The Curtis Institute of Philadelphia named Nina an Honorary Doctor in Music and Humanities and

on

April 21 Nina died in Carry-le-Rouet, France.
