Cell Analogy: Comparing an Animal Cell to a Car
The Nucleus is the driver. I believe the nucleus is the driver because the driver controls all the actions in a car (e.g. they put pressure on the gas pedal for the car to move and/or they control what gear the car is on). This is similar to the actions of the Nucleus because it controls the activities of the cell.
The Cell Membrane is the body or the doors of the car. I think this because the cell membrane is the thin covering that surrounds the organelles in the cell and controls the passage of materials in or out of the cell just like the body of the car surrounds all the different parts of the car and the doors control whether people and things enter/exit the car.
The Cytoplasm is oil for several reasons. One reason is the Cytoplasm fills the cell the cell and surrounds the organelles. Oil in a car fills and surrounds the car parts. Also, oxygen moves through the cytoplasm just like oxygen and oil nutrients move through oil.
The Endoplasmic Reticulum makes the protein for the cell. Gasoline also makes protein for the car. This is why the endoplasmic reticulum is gasoline.
Mitochondria is the car battery. I think this because mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell and it releases its stored energy to the other organelles. This fuels all the activities. The car battery does the exact same thing. It releases stored energy to power and fuel the car and its all parts.
The Vacuoles are the storage areas of the car. This is because the vacuoles store excess food, waste and other substances. In a car, the storage ares can contain and hold all these things.
The Ribosomes are the oil nutrients. The ribosomes are in the cytoplasm just like how the oil nutrients are in the oil.
The Golgi Apparatus combines the proteins made by the endoplasmic reticulum and delivers them to the rest of the cell. The pipes and hoses take the gasoline and delivers it to the rest of the car. This is why the Golgi Apparatus is the pipes and hoses of the car.
The lysosomes are the exhaust and muffler. I think this because the lysosomes break down the food and then digests wastes. It is very similar to how the exhaust takes the gasoline combustion and breaks it down. Then it releases it out the muffler.
