What is multiple personality disorder?

A personality disorder is a type of mental illness

in which you have trouble perceiving and relating to situations and to people.It is also known as dissociative identity order(DID).

The syndrome of multiple personality is associated with a high incidence of physical /or abuse in childhood. Occasionally those with multiple personality abuse their own children.

These states display marked differences in a person’s behaviour, recollections and opinions, and ways of engaging with the world and other people. The person frequently experiences gaps in memory or difficulties recalling events that occurred while they were in other personality states.

When your brain is damaged, it can affect many different things, including your memory, your sensation, and even your personality. Brain disorders include any conditions or disabilities that affect your brain. This includes conditions that are caused by:

A perceptions of people and things around you as distorted.

Frequent mood swings and flashback.

The first goal of treatment is to relieve symptoms and control the disturbing symptoms and control the disturbing behavior.

This helps to educate the family about the disorder and its causes, as well as to help family members recognize symptoms of a recurrence.

Although it may not be possible to prevent all cases of dissociative disorders, it may be helpful to begin treatment in people as soon as they begin to have symptoms. Further, prevention or elimination of child abuse and quick intervention following a traumatic event may help reduce the risk of developing dissociative disorders.
