Introduction

Introduction

I threw the mat in the freezing water. It was like swimming in the arctic! Here we were on the 29th of May, with all of stage three at Youthworks camp, Deer Park, Port Hacking. we anticipated loads of fun, but first we had to get there. The bus ride took forever! I was raring to go make new friends, experience the outdoors and grow in faith!

Rope Climbing

Rope climbing was the last activity we did on the second day and it is so much harder than it looks. We walked into the hall and were fitted into our harnesses. We were surprised to see knots and loops tied to the main rope, and we just thought we were going to shimmy up the rope! There was a bele team that moved forwards if the climber was coming down and back if the climber rose. It was harder than it looked as you had to put your foot through a loop and clip another knot onto your harness. we lifted the loop first and than we stood up. After that raised the knot that was clipped to our harness and than, to a disappointing end.... we sat down. We continued this until we arrived at the top. I was biting my fingernails as it looked like I wouldn't get a turn with only ten minutes left, but luckily I got a turn. Rope climbing is so much harder than it looks!

Conclusion

So I survived three days of fun and two nights of torture. Torture? Three cabins filled with dirty stinky boys were forced to share ONE bathroom! Yes you heard right, one bathroom! I was woken up on both nights at 5:50am because of Jacob showering and Jared coming into our cabin and shouting at us. Three days of fun and two nights of torture!

Archery

My favourite activity had to be archery which followed the dreaded, but fun waterslide! I've been fond of archery ever since I first tried it. I always imagine that my crps was on the target. I would nock, draw and shoot killing it each time. I want to be a good archer when I grow up!

Abseiling

The last and only activity on the third day wa abseiling. I've always thought abseiling was easy, but boy was I wrong! Ashton, for some reason decided to go first. He began by leading backwards and slowly feeding the rope through. He took a step and than he started dancing! From side to side he went and he tried to take another step and than . . . . . . he face planted! Or as he liked to call it, giving the wall a high five with his head! Luckily I didn't face plant and fed the rope through correctly. Ashton still has a bruise on his elbow!
