• Over time these groups became more organized and even borrowing from religion and calling themselves the disciples, which later on became the Devils Diciples.
• The Devil's Disciples were from inglewood and would fight against gangs like the Uptown Rebels, Who were known to be a group of racist white men, The blackstone and mickey cobras.
• One of the founding members was David Barksdale, also known as "King David," who

Was only 14 when he began leading the gang.

• King David wanted to expand the gang and in order to do this he brought together other small gangs under the disciple banner.
• In the 60’s David found his base of operations in 63rd and normal.
• Eventually changed its name to the black disciple nation as more gangs joined them under the disciple umbrella.

• 1964 when a group of young men all met at Larry Hoover's home. Which was in between the disciples and stones territory so they decided to form their gang and take over that territory.
• When they first began they began to have a rivalry with the stones and cobras but had no problems with the disciples.
• The black stone rangers eventually became the Black P. Stones rangers and began fighting with the Black Disciples and applying pressure to the Supreme gangsters they decided to build allies much like the BD’S
• Many gangs joined (mostly in the westside) and then they began the fight with the BD’s
• Larry Hoover was the target of many assassinations attempts
• During the 60’s both the Stones and BD’s wanted the supreme gangsters to join their alliance with Larry meeting up with both gang leaders
• In May 1969 there was a shooting that led to the death of two supreme gangsters by the hands of Stones which led to a full alliance between Larry Hoover and King David.
• They became Known as the BGD’s the black gangster disciples

After David

After many attempts King David ended up passing away in 1974 due to some of the lasting effects from the shootings. Jerome “ shorty” Freeman Was now appointed head of the Bds street gang.

• For a period of time there was peace they even had `` I solemnly swear never to disrespect the names of our kings, king david, king hoover, king shorty, and minister of defense don dirky” as their scripture.

• But sometime after David's death there was almost like a civil war in the gang. This came due to the tension from prior fights in the 60’s and the lack of respect for the heads of the gangs.
• After losing a grip on the outside gangs Larry Hoover decided to create a new alliance which came to be known as Folks nation. This caused the reaction to the creation of the Peoples nation

Late 90's and 00's

• In the late 90’s and early 00’s many high ranking BD’s and GD’s were charged and arrested for their crimes one of the most notable one was the head of the BD’s Marvel Thompson. He and 40 others were charged with several crimes from distribution of drugs, possession of illegal firearms and laundering money from their record label Called M.O.B.
• In the 2000’s there was a huge sting operation in the Robert Taylor home projects , the GD’s and BD’s had been fighting over this territory for decades and they were eventually torn down in 2007 along with Cabrini Green years later in 2011.
• All these events lead to the division into smaller factions, alliances not being respected and more confusion between gangs.

Robert “ Yummy” Sandifer

• Was a 11 year old BD
• He was used as a shooter and he tragically killed an innocent 14 year old bystander while shooting and killing 2 GD members.
• The BD’s were under a lot of pressure because of this and were afraid the 11 year old would snitch, so they sent a pair of brothers who were 14 and 16 years old, Eric and Craig Hardawa, to kill Yummy.
• Yummy was killed execution style and the two young men were caught, ironically this incident brought even more pressure to the BD’s

This along with many other incidents brought down many of the heads for the BD’s and GD’s.

2010's

• With such close proximity to one another it is believed that much of this beef comes from School and escalated to the war it is now
• Parkway Gardens was named the most dangerous block in the US from the amount of shootings that occured there from 2011-2015.
• In January 2011 ,after some months of back and forth shootings, 15 year old Shondale Gregory aka “Tooka” was shot on 63rd and St. Lawrance bus stop.
• This is how they would rename themselves Tookaville. Tooka had two close friends, one being K.I and the other being FBG Duck. K.I became a known shooter after her friend's tragic death.
• She got revenge by killing one of the BD members known as Odee Perry. On August 10, 2011 he was shot on 64th street on Tooka’s birthday. K.I was only 14 when this occurred. The BD’s then changed their name to O-Block to honor their friend.
• These two deaths started much of the shootings as retaliation from both sides this also started the dissing of each other through music.

The BD's are ahead of the game when it come to music.Big artist for BD’s include

• Chief Keef, the creator of the drill scene and one of the biggest artist in the US in the early 2010’s
• King Von, who was breaking out more recently until his tragic death was named the killer of a few STL members after his death.
• Lil Durk one of the biggest artist in the US right now and creator of OTF label standing for only the family or only tray way

These artist are much bigger than the GD artist as they are globally known while most GD's are Local. Some artist are

• Lil Jojo who created his song BDK and was killed shortly after and before he got any biggerr
• FBG Duck, probably the most successful of the GD artist but was killed near downtown Chicago in the summer of 2020
• Rooga, is the biggest GD artist from Chicago today and has bursted in the scene this year with his "GD anthem"

Overall the BD's have the biggest artist and have tooken over the

Industry with their GDK movement and disses on dead GD

members like Tooka. King Von along with Chief Keef
