Art directors are in charge of making sure photos that are used look right on things like magazines, newspapers, and product packaging are appropriate and stylish. They make designs while directing others who make artwork.

Job Description

Position responsibilities

Art directors determine what element of art to use. They voice the vision to everyone on the team. They review and approve things. Art directors design and photograph. They develop budgets and timelines and art directors determine how to represent the creative directive's idea.

Art directors need to have a bachelor's degree in art or design subject and previous work experience in art. Some common degrees are graphic design, visual communication, and digital media. Some may choose to further their education with a Master's Degree in Business Administration or Fine Arts.

Art directors need a bachelors degree in art or design. Art directors may previously worked as a graphic designer, illustrator, copy editors, etc.

Most art directors have 5 or more years of experience in another occupation in this work field before they become art director.
