UA HIGH School

From My Hero Academia

Cell Analogy

By: Andy Hyun

Background Knowledge

Before I start with the Analogy, what do you need to know?

What Cell am I using?

I will be using a Plant Cell as my Analogy.

Type of Cell

UA High School (The Information)

What is UA High School?

UA High School is the #1 Hero High school in the show "My Hero Academia". My Hero Academia is about a world where 80% of the world has a superpower called quirks. There are many types, such as Half-Cold Half-Hot and Explosion. However, like the Main Protagonist, Izuku Midoriya, 20% of the world doesn't have a quirk. Despite Izuku, or Deku, (commonly called that by his old friend Bakugou, even though Bakugou hates Izuku), knowing that he doesn't have a quirk, he still wants to go to UA High School, where the entrance exams have a 1 out of 300 chance to pass. One day, when he was walking home from his middle school, he meets the #1 Hero, All Might, and from then on, his life changes forever.

A Cell is...

The smallest unit of all living organisms.

What is a Cell?

The Nucleus

A nucleus is a membrane-bound organelle that contains genetic material. It is the control center of the cell.

The Analogy

The nucleus of UA High would be Principal Nezu, who controls the school and supervises all of the changes in the school's program.

DNA

DNA/CHromosomes

Deoxyribonucleic Acid is genetic material that give instructions for cell processes. Chromosomes carry genetic information in the form of genes.

ANALOGY

The DNA in a UA High School would be the teachers because they give students knowledge and directions on how to be heroes.

Nucleolus

A nucleolus is a round body located inside the nucleus of eukaryotic cells. Nucleolus create ribosomal subunits that combine into ribosomes.

Nucleolus

Analogy

The nucleolus would be the Forest training camp field trip that helped the students develop their quirks. This is like the nucleolus because it forms ribosomal subunits into ribosomes like the training camp does with quirks.

Ribosomes

Ribosomes make proteins for the cell by putting together amino acids using instructions from the DNA.

Analogy

Ribosomes

The Ribosome of UA High School would be the Support course, led by the Hero, PowerLoader. This analogy works because the Support Course creates hero costume by putting gadgets made by the Support course together.

Cell wall

A cell wall is a rigid structure that surround the cell membrane that provides support and protection to the cell.

Analogy

The cell wall of UA High School would be the security heroes that protect the school like during the Sports Festival. For example, Kamui Woods was protecting the school while students participated in the Sports Festival.

Cytoplasm

The cytoplasm is the region between the cell membrane and the nucleus that includes fluid and all organelles.

Analogy

The cytoplasm of UA High School would be the students of UA High School. They fill up the school and make things more lively.

Cytoplasm

Cell Membrane

The cell membrane is a protective layer that covers a cell's structure and acts as a barrier between the inside of a cell and the cell's environment.

Analogy

Cell Membrane

The cell membrane of UA High would be the security door in the front of the school. It keeps out any trespassers who don't have a student ID, which is like the cell membrane keeping out bacteria from the cell's environment.

Nuclear Membrane

The nuclear membrane encloses and protects the nucleus. The nuclear membrane is a double bilayer made of lipids.

Analogy

Nuclear Membrane

The nuclear membrane of UA High would be Nezu's crane that he used in the Final Exams that protected him from the student's attacks to make it harder for the students to pass the Final Exam. Since Nezu would be the Nucleus, the crane would be the nuclear membrane.

Mitochondria

A mitochondria breaks down food using a process called cellular respiration to get energy.

Analogy

The mitochondria of UA High School would be Present Mic, who hype up the students before many important events, such as the entrance exams. He hypes the students because he wants everyone to have enthusiasm and energy to be able to do their best.

Central Vacuole

Central Vacuole

The central vacuole is a fluid-filled vesicle that stores water which supports the cell because plants will wilt when the central vacuole loses water. It could also

Analogy

The central vauole of UA High School would be the cafeteria, run by the Pro Hero, Lunch Rush. The cafeteria would be the central vacuole because it gives the students high quality food so they can focus on their studies.

Cytoskeleton

The cytoskeleton is a network of protein filaments that gives shape and support to cells.

Analogy

The cytoskeleton of UA High would be the structure of the school. These items are alike because the cytoskeleton gives the shape and support the cells as the structure of the school gives the shape and support of the school.

Cytoskeleton

Endoplasmic Reticulum

The endoplasmic reticulum assists in the production, processing, and transport of proteins and in the production of lipids.

Analogy

Endoplasmic REticulum

The endoplasmic reticulum of UA High would be the class changes in the school because it transports the teachers (because teachers are the ones who switch, not the students) to the correct classes.

Chloroplasts

Chloroplasts are organelles where photosynthesis occurs, which is the process by which cells use sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water to make sugar and oxygen.

Analogy

The chloroplasts of UA High would be Lunch Rush, who makes the food, which is like how chloroplasts make sugars and oxygen.

Golgi complex

The Golgi Complex that packages and distributes materials, such as proteins.

Golgi

Analogy

The Golgi Complex of UA High School would be the buses that transports and brings the students to the training camp after the final exams.

Student council representative leading the rest of the students into the bus

Ribosomes

Ribosomes is an organelle that makes proteins by putting together chains of amino acids using instructions encoded in the cell's DNA.

Analogy

Ribosomes

The Ribosomes of UA High School would be the training exercises that teachers use to teach students certain aspects that couldn't otherwise be taught. These are alike because amino acids (work-in progress heroes) are put together (Trained) using instructions from the DNA (teachers).

Conclusion

My Hero Academia's UA High is one of the best things that can be compared to a cell. Any questons?

Bye!!!
