ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT

Is a training vessel under Archipelago Philippine Seafarers Training Institute Inc. (APSTII) where cadets from different region in our country are being trained before being deployed to different vessel of the Fastcat under Archipelago Philippine Ferries Corporation (APFC)

to build competent Filipino Deck and Engine Cadets ,future officers, instilled with national pride, trained to be the protector of marine environment and inculcated with the knowledge and skills that are vital in the field that they have chosen.

Currently we have 116 cadets; 71 Deck Cadets and 45 Engine Cadets, with 1 Bosun and 1 Officer on-board.

3 Months Program

3 Months Program

The longest run for a cadet at MTQ is 3 Months where their stay at the training vessel will be devoted in lecture and duty. It is the program used in order for the cadets to be mindful with the things going around MTQ and prepare them before their deployment to Fastcat.

REVIEW LECTURE

1ST MONTH

Upon the cadets embarkation, first month of their stay at the vessel will be a review lecture on different courses where it focuses mainly on Safety, Good Housekeeping, Maritime English with SMCP and review in Basic Marine Navigation & Seamanship and Marine Engineering. Orientation on different job description of each department is also conducted in preparation for their rotation of duties.

ASSESSMENT

ASSESSMENT

After the lecture each day, written or practical assessment is given where 40% of their final grade each week is acquired. 20 % is acquired in their Weekly Written Assessment and the last 40% is from the Oral Interview conducted by the officer on board.

Incentive is given to the Top 3 cadets each week wherein they will be pulled out in the lecture and starts to rotate in different duties on board.

After 4 weeks of review lecture or being part of the Top 3 in a certain week and being oriented already to each job description of different departments on board , cadets will now start to have their duties

3RD MONTH

In their last month at MTQ, senior cadets will undergo to a series of lecture focusing mainly in their duties at the running vessel or in the Fastcat. E-Learning is also scheduled everyday for the senior cadets while during their second month, schedule will be during their free time.

Through this it enables the cadets to assist fellow crew/people who become injured in the event of an accident or emergency situation until help arrives and be mindful with what to do when unexpected things happens.

MV Mary the Queen is super headed by the Officer On Board, C/M Cheryl Paguio, which is the over-all in command of the vessel with the help of the Bosun and the leaders of each department.

Maintaining the security of the vessel is the primary objective of the department. Continuous monitoring of all the mooring lines connected to the dolphin, vicinity checking for security purposes, ballast reading for the water supply and weather forecasting as an aid for monitoring of the vessels situation are the secondary one.

The builders of the vessel for its primary purpose is to maintain and repair its structure. Secondary purposes are to maintain the good condition of the accommodation of the crew and all the equipments as well.

The priority is to maintain a germ-free, mosquito-free, odorless-free and the overall wellness of the crew on-board. It focuses in ensuring the cleanliness and neatness of every corners of the vessel. From the uppermost part down to the areas that were never been reached.

The top priority is to achieve the satisfaction of the crew on board by giving them good service of food as their needs and share the skills and manners in order to enhance our characters and build camaraderie while taking a break and eating after a hard time on duty.

It is the color department of the vessel wherein it maintains the visual brightness during night time or day time

E-LEARNING

To provide the things needed on board when it comes to computer technology. Designation of cabins to each cadets, assisting cadets during their E-Learning Examination and conducting a recitation on lifesaving apparatuses and firefighting symbols are the task under this department.

Primary objective is to maintain the functionality of the machineries. Secondary ones are continuous monitoring of the working condition of the generators, assisting the electricians for repairing some parts of the main engine and assisting deck watch keepers for the vessels security.

are built to be globally competitive seafarers anchored with discipline, respect and unity. Inculcated to have an integrity in their task and responsibility, centered with moral values and programmed for excellence.

M-Team Quinity

It is a team building activity held every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month. It started last November 10, 2018 as the v.1.0 of the said activity.

The activity aims to bring out and develop the leadership skills of each cadets, to foster stronger relationship and camaraderie, to gain unity around the team and the vessel and to ignite the spirit of excellence in them.

Sharing

Night

Sharing and Worship Night is conducted every night of Sunday of the week. This is to empower the spiritual life of each cadets, to develop their confidence when it comes to public speaking and to strengthen their faith to their personal Savior.

Halloween Party is held last November 7, 2018. It is conducted to bring out the creativeness of each cadets from different departments and to build camaraderie and unity among each other.

Is conducted once month to celebrate the life of each birthday celebrants of the month and the success of each departments for the whole month. Thus, developing a good camaraderie and relationship around each crew and showing unity through this activity.

Is held every Tuesday to Friday morning and every Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Sunday night. The activity aims to discuss real and relevant issues, concerns that they deal within the vessel and to keep each department updated with the system around. Complaints and suggestions are being heard in this activity.

As the MTQ aims to build competent future deck and engine officers, instilled with national pride, trained to be the protector of marine environment and inculcated with the knowledge and skills that are vital in the field that they have chosen it is still them who makes their own path and identity. MTQ serves as a stepping stone and the first page of their Seafarers Life Journey.
