Founded by Gulam Hussein who is an immigrant from India.
He and his son (Mydin Mohamed) started the business.
However, the shop was burnt down due to the World War II. After that, the business still be continued by Mydin Mohamed. (Founder of Mydin)

The Mydin Company was created by Mr. Mydin Mohamed family in Kota Bharu, Kelantan under name of Syarikat Mydin Mohamed.
The first shop was a small wooden shop in Jalan Tok Hakim, Kota Bharu. (selling toys from Thailand)
Mydin Mohamed runs the first
shop at the age of 29
1979 - Business spread to Kuala Terengganu
1989 - Klang Valley at Jalan Masjid India

It is named as Mydin Mohamed Holdings Sdn Bhd.
In the same year also, the company is converted into public limited company and has assumed the name of Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad.

There are 74 outlets nationwide which include 26 hypermarkets, 17 emporiums,8 supermarkets, 3 bazaars, 12 convenience stores that operate as MyMart and 5 franchise outlets operating as Mydin Mart and 3 premium grocery store known as SAM's Groceria.
Mydin Mohamed passed away in August 2016. Now, the delegacy is continued his second son, Datuk Ameer Ali Mydin.

17 emporiums, 3 bazaars, 8 supermarkets, 9 convenience shops (MyMart), 5 franchise outlets (Mydin Mart) and 3 SAM’S Groceria supermarkets.
Operation
Mydin operates its business based on ‘Halal’ concepts and stresses on honesty, sincerity and good discipline in all aspects of its business. Mydin also has its own online store and online app to ease all the shoppers out there.
Objective: gain more profit by attaining more customers.
