You might find you attend to certain stimuli for different reasons. You might find that you pay attention to some news stories more than others, that the media are or are not influential on your views, or find that having information about certain conditions over others changes the nature of their importance to you. Your reactions can be explained by some of the Big Theories, as we'll call them this semester, that provide explanations of how we react to and are influenced by and process media messages.

For each unit, we'll plan on :
1) overview with readings and prezi/activities
2) exemplar viewing
3) discussion with discussion leaders on information in unit and exemplar(s)
We'll pick discussion leaders soon!
Discussion leaders will guide discussion for each context and use these to examine each area more closely. Leaders will turn in at least 5 points or questions or activities for discussion (via a forum). These theories will be part of the discussion points/questions and have some ties to our readings. The rest is up to you. More detail is in the assignment sheet.
