Teaching Assistant Internship

My Internship

I assist Travas Young and Dale Boam with any assignments and projects they need me to do. From behind-the-scenes Canvas, proof reading documents for conferences, organizing, and emailing, to peer reviewing articles/papers for publication.

Getting an Internship

  • Decide what you want to do
  • Meet with internship coordinator, Jamie Hardman, to discuss potential internships
  • Talk with former interns about their internships
  • Email possible internship sites/possible mentors
  • Get internship approved by Jamie Hardman and fill out paperwork

About the Internship

  • 1 credit, 75 hours
  • Meet with or email teacher weekly to stay on top of projects/assignments
  • Keep a log of your hours doing your internship
  • Keep a daily/weekly journal of what you do during your internship
  • Midterm/Final - Prezi and/or Website
  • Turn documents into the internship Google Drive
  • Attend and present at the Internship Workshop

What to Expect

Advice for Future Interns

  • Don't be afraid to ask questions.
  • Make sure you are on the same page as your mentor/teacher.
  • Don't worry if your work takes a while. It doesn't matter how long it takes you, as long as it is correct and looks professional.
  • Don't be afraid to ask for more projects/assignments. Keep them coming!
  • Clarification is good, don't be embarrassed if you need something to be clarified.
  • Work hard!
