The nwmp was created after the royal canadian mountained police. They were police that pioneered the west and the artic during the time period from 1873 until 1920. The nwmp did not have fancy uniforms with gold lace. The uniform was very simple to reflect there purpose which is an efficent police force.

The nwmp was formed to police the frontier territory's of canadian west. They ended the whiskey trade and the violence that came with it. This helped the government take control of the northwest rebellion and also brought control to the klondike gold rush. one of the earlier reasons why people were asking for police was because the liquor traffic was causing the indians to lose confidence. Also there were to many bad things happening which wouldve been a major crime but wasnt because there were no police or laws.
