Value of Cacao

Cacao was mainly harvested through enslaved peoples as slave trade had become a recent development and provided more profit. Since there was a higher demand for the product, there were a higher number of slaves.

Cacao was one the most valuable crops because of its worth as a currency and the cuisines that could be made with it. The countires who mainly profitted from cacao were Spain and Portugal.Mainly used in Old World but harvested in New World until it was grown in Africa.
