The NZIS Diploma in Sport (Advanced Sport Management) is a full-time, Level 6 tertiary qualification
Sport Management students are able to practically apply what they learn during the year through the organisation of large commercial and non-profit events to gain valuable experience. Their event management skills are developed and improved through direct involvement in the planning and implementation of major multi-faceted events.
Graduates in Sport Management will finish the Diploma with transferable business skills in marketing, management, coaching and administration.
Diploma graduates are suited for employment in a wide range of sporting organisations including Regional Sports Trusts, sport facilities, sport clubs and societies and other commercial sport businesses.
The NZIS Diploma in Sport (Advanced Exercise Prescription) is a full time, level 6 tertiary qualification.
The Exercise Prescription Diploma is characterized by higher level study, analysis of sports science principles and programming of exercise. This includes a more focused study of Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Functional Anatomy and Biomechanics, giving diploma graduates an increased level of understanding of exercise science principles.
Students also learn athlete assessment and develop exercise programmes for a range of special population groups; a key skill in the ever expanding personal training industry. Students in their Diploma year may also have the opportunity to work with real “clients” throughout the year. This is part of the practical application of the course, working in areas such as the health initiatives that NZIS run in conjunction with government health agencies.
