Before anything there was an egg. From that Egg the Great Creator Phan Ku emerged. He was the first being to ever exist, nobody was before him. Phan Ku was born without a gender. He was believed to be the one who created everything as we know it. Phan Ku is one of the many beliefs on how the world was created. This version is the one that the Chinese believe.
Phan Ku was as tall as a gaint, growing 10 feet a day. Hair grew all over his body and horns grew on the top of his head. He had tusks that emerged from his jaw and he held a chisel. With the chisel, he shaped the earth.
Phan Ku spent over 18,000 years creating the sun, the earth along with the rest of the planets. First, he separated the sky from the earth, and created light. The light was as pure as the sky, known as yang. The dark weight from the earth is yin. This is how yin and yang was created. Next he created the earth's rivers and seas. To do this, he used his mighty chisel and carved out every body of water there is that we know.
Phan Ku died only when the world was at last complete 18,000 years after his birth. His final breath made the winds, the sound of thunder and lightning were the sound of his voice, rain came from his sweat the sky was made from Phan Ku's skull, soil came from his body, rocks from his bones; rivers and oceans came from his blood, and all the organic life (plants) came from Phan Ku's hair. We humans came from the fleas from Phan Ku's body.
