The author of the book is Gytha Lodge. She studied creativity writing in UEA (University of East Anglia) and after that she was shortlisted for the Yeovil Literatury Prize. She also developed a very large following, with over 5 million reads for her writings for adults and children on Whattpad. She lies in wait is her debut novel.

The book is about six school friends: Topaz, Connor, Daniel, Jojo, Coralie and Brett.They went camping together in the forest on a hot July night in 1983. They also had to took Topaz's younger sister, Aurora. While they"re drinking alcohol and taking drugs she "suddenly disappeared" and in the morning no one can find her.

also Jojo and Caroline because Aurora's body was found in a hideaway only the six of them knew about.

It was his first time on drugs and he acted very wierd. Before midnight he sat next to Aurora by the fire and started to touch her......he gave her a lot of drugs and he raped her. She was trying to escape and she had hid herself in a hideaway in the ground next to the tree. In the morning when they realized that Aurora is gone they had to call the police and get rid of the drugs so they put them in a hidaway that Aurora was in and buried them.
