You are my best friend, forever until the end.
We will wait for our dream land, to create our beautiful ranch.
Lennie and George viewed each other as best friends, grew up together, and never left each others side, therefor this poem has a connection to the tale of Of Mice And Men. They had other aspirations, including starting a joint farm and owning their own land. As it is stated in page 59, "All kin's a vegetables in the garden, and if we want a little whiskey we can sell a few eggs or something, or some milk. We'd just live there. We'd belong there." They were already making their plans for when they'd live alone.
Petting rabits has become one of my favorite habits. They are so soft and in my dreams, they jump as high as the loft. They crossed and crossed my mind, until they got lost
This is related to the story of Of Mice And Men because it is believed that Lennie was enamored with soft things and that one of his favorites was rabbits. They play a role in his dreams.
Inside my home, I stand alone. All on my own, inside my home. My skin color should never had been shown. Everyone's heart is made out of stone. I try my best, so my emotions are not shown
This pertains to the tale of "Of Mice And Men," where it is stated that Crooks was restricted from doing many things because others would criticize his skin tone. Becaue he was limited in his activities, he spent the majority of his time in his room. Even though he wanted people to feel horrible for him, he made an effort to hide his emotions. And did not want to be alone as stated in page 73, where he says "I tell ya a guy gets too lonely an' he gets sick."
I stand in front of George facing outwards. I know I have done something wrong, so I stay without words. I stay facing out to the wilderness thinking about my bitterness.
Lennie knew he had done something wrong and he knew George was going to be angry, as it is said in the story of Of Mice And Men, which is why this poetry has a connection to that narrative. But after all had occured, he regretted it all
I'm deeply deeply sorry Lennie, for what I have done. I never wanted to hold up that gun. It hurts me a ton, and now I wish for it to all be undone.
This poem has a connection to the plot of Of Mice And Men since, in truth, George did not want to kill Lennie because he regarded him as his best friend. However, with time, he lost control over what Lennie did.
