the name of the second caste, was likely the first caste that was invennted, although with a different name, far before the others.

It refers to the ruling family, and higher up military men. Warriors.

Kshatriyas

A Nifty

Nickname

Rajanya.

This isn't acually a nickname, but it's how ancient texts refer to the warrior caste.

It was renamed to Kshatriya much later.

The Vaishyas are the highest caste of working class people.

In the begining, they were just cowherds, but as society developed, they became, farmers, and merchants, and even buissnesspeople!

Vaishyas

Shudras are traditionaly people of the laboring class. Serving the other three castses as servants, doing whatever they are told to do.

But, as in all the other castes, times changed and soon, Shudras too were warriors and mercants, and every job imaginable.

Shudras

The Chandalas are acually not part of Ancient India's caste system. As outsiders, they are considered impure, so they don't live inside city limits. They do all the nasty jobs that nobodywants to do, like carrying dead corpses outside the city to be cremated.
