Constitución de 1824
It contained many idelas the Mexican peopole were fighting for, such as:
a republic goverment, federal system, keep the church and military privileges, and having catholisism as their only one.
It was full of moostly liberal ideas.
This constitution impacted the one we use in this day and age. Some of the ideals and laws mentioned in de Constitución de 1824 were included in the current one, that we must follow.
Ley Juárez (1855): Restricted the special tribunals the church and military had.
Ley Lerdo (1856): The state took in all the church lands that were not being used.
Ley Iglesias (1857): The church should not charge any money to the public. Any money given should be voluntary.
Ley Orgánica del Registro Civil (1857): The document that will be used for any legal process should be linked with the government (acta de nacimiento, acta de matrimonio), not with the church.
The liberals created this laws in order to advance in completing all their ideologies. They had the power while the creation of this laws was happening.
This laws really impact today's life, most noticably the Ley Orgánica del Registro Civil. This law changed the government organized the legal documents, seperating the church and the state.
The "Guerra de Reforma", or "Guerra de tes años", was a war faught in México between liberals and conservatives. This was because of the new constitution. During this war, they both had power. Sometimes the liberals had power, others the conservatives. This got to the point where the country had two presidents. One for the liberals, Benito Juarez, and one for the conservatives, Féliz Zuloaga. But ultimately, liberals won the war. This is why to this date we don't use church paper for legal work. This constitution also prohibited slavery and encouraged freedom of speech and press.

After Juarez refusal to pay Mexico's debt France invaded them looking for any opportunities and to win their money back.
The liberals had more power at that moment since they won that battle at the command of Ignacio Zaragoza.
The French did not give up after the loss, and continued persisting. They later invaded Ciudad de Mexico, and Benito Juarez had to flee to Chihuahua.
Today we celebrate Mexico's win from 5 de Mayo. This impacted the money loss at the time.

During this period the liberals had more power because they were able to defeat him.

Restauración de la República
After Maximiliano was sent to his death, and the French soldiers left. Benito Juarez returned to Mexico City. He became president again.
Porfirio Díaz created the Plan de la Noria, which prohibited Juarez from being president again. Before Díaz could be elected, Juarez died and Sebastián Lerdo de Tejada (leader of the Supreme Court of Justice) became president.
Lerdo de Tejada wanted to be president again, but Porfirio Diaz created a plan to stop him. Díaz created the Plan de Tuxtepec, and the capital was his.
After the battle with Maximiliano de Hasburgo, the liberals stayed in power. Every president since Benito Juarez was a liberal president, and followed the leyes de reforma and the new constitution.
This moment was a great contribution to today. The restoration of the republic is what Mexico wanted in the independece and reaching it for the final time was important. This moment is one reason why we have a republic today.
