1890s: John Oliver Crosby Years
(1892-1896)
1. The college building was the first building erected on the A&M College for the Colored Race. It was a multipurpose building that had administration offices, classrooms, food services, dorms. (1893)
1. South Dorm (constructed 1907) was designed by Adam Watson, one of the first 7 students to graduate A&T. It is now named Vanstory Hall.
2. Noble Hall (constructed 1922-1923) was named after Marcus C.S. Noble, a long time chairman of NC A&T Board of Trustees. Noble was a educator and leader in development of public schools (1898-1942).
3. Murphy Hall (constructed 1923-1924) was named after Walter Pete Murphy, A lawyer and state legislature. It used to be a dinning hall but, now houses student affairs, counselling, and testing as well a placement.
4. Morrison Hall (constructed 1924) named after Govenor Cameron Morrison, who eventually became a democrat and leader of Red Shirts. The hall was rename Speight Hall in 2021. The hall originally housed men but now houses women.
1. Dudley Memorial Building (built 1930) is named after the second NC A&T President, James B. Dudley. It was built in place where the college building first was before it burned down.
2. Richard B. Harrison auditorium (constructed 1939) is named after Richard B. Harrison, who acted as "De Lawd" in a play called Green Pastures (1929). Harrison taught drama and directed plays at A&T.
3. Holland Hall (constructed 1939) named after Annie Holland, the first residence hall named after a woman on A&T campus. Holland was a state supervisor for elementary schols in North Carolina.
1. Crosby Hall (constructed 1970, renovations completed 2005) is named after the first president of NC A&T John O. Crosby. Crosby Hall was originally the Mechanical Building, that was constructed 1895.
2. Gibbs Hall (constructed 1980) is named after the fourth president of A&T, Waromth T. Gibbs. The Graduate School that was founded in 1939 is housed in this hall.
3. Dowdy Building (finished 1891) was named after sixth (and last) president and first chancellor, Lewis C. Dowdy.
1. Webb Hall (finished 1982) is named after Burleigh C. Webb, a former dean of the school Agriculture.
2. Mcnair Hall (constructed 1987) is named in honor of an astronaut that went to A&T, Ronald E. Mcnair.
3. Bluford Library (Originally Built in 1955 as the Fort interdiscisplinary Research Center) is named after Fernindad D. Bluford, the third president of A&T. The present building was dedicated on September 10th, 1991.
4. Fort interdisciplinary Research Center (constructed 1953) housed the original Bluford Library from 1955-1991. It is named after the eighth chancellor, Edward B. Fort.
1. Feburary One Momument (unveiled 2002) was made in honor of the A&T four (Ezeil Blair Jr, Franklin Mccain, David Richmond, Joseph Mcneil the monument was commisoned by chancellor James C. Renick.
2. Proctor Hall (finished July 14, 2008 and dedicated November 19, 2009) is named after Samuel D. Proctor, the fifth presdient of A&T. Faculty and staff relocated there from Hodgin Hall.
3. Deese Clock Tower (dedicated March 24, 2017) was a gift from Willie A. Deese and Carol C. Deese. It sits in the middle of campus 88ft tall.
4. Blount Student Helath Center (Dedicated March 11) is named after Dr. Alvin V. Blount Jr.
5. University Farm Pavilion (open September 21, 2021) is an extenstion of research and resource for the university farm that was built 1904
6. Harold L. Martin Sr. Engineering Research and Innovation Complex was named after Dr. Martin as Chancellor
1. The President House (The Oaks constructed 1949) is named "The Oaks" because of huge oak trees surrounding it. It now houses the NC A&T Faculty Club.
2. Curtis Hall (Constructed 1951) is named after Austin W. Curtis, one of the first graduates of A&T. Curtis Hall originally was for women, then it became a men's dorm, but has turned right back into a women's dorm.
3. Scott Hall (finished 1951) is named after William K. Scott, NC 62nd Govenor. It was designed to house 1,100 male students, with 505 rooms. The cost was about $2 million.
4. Benbow Hall (constructed in 1953) is named after W.D.C Benbow, a physician.
5. Campbell House (Constructed 1955) is named captain Robert Campbell, who returned to A&T after combat in WWI. Campbell also managed Murphy Hall when it was the dinning facilty.
6. Moore Gymnasium
Maybe Scott Hall should be named after Renick instead of the 62nd Govenor of NC. It should be named after the chacellor since he contributed and cared more about the school than any of the other people.
