A sound wave is a disturbance that travel throungh a medium, such as air or water, and is characterized by variations in pressure and the displacement of particles within the medium. These variation in pressure and displacement create compressions and rarefactions that our ear perceive as sound.
Sound wave move through different types of materials at verying rates and can affect the quality, frequency, and volume of the sound produced.
The properties of the medium through which sound travel can affect how sound waves are transmitted. Sound travel faster through denser materials like solids compared to less dense gases like air. The sound wave is made up of two parts : compression and rarefaction, which create the sound we hear. The frequency, amplitude, and wavelength of these segments also affect the proerties of the sound wave
Sound wave have two properties: amplitude ( loudness) and frequency ( pitch). High amplitude sounds are louder, and high frequency sounds are higher in pitch
