The Birth

When a newborn Kangaroo is first born, the size of the baby would be comparable to a jelly bean. The newborn is so small the mother must guide it's baby by licking a path in her own fur. This is because the baby is so small the mother is unable to grab hold of it.

Birth

Baby Kangaroo

Once the baby manages to get all the way to the pouch, the newborn attaches it's mouth to the mothers teat. While this is happening all the organs will be growing/developing. A baby kangaroo can stay at this stage from 7 - 10 months.

Joey

After the development of the newborn the joey will finally be able to exit it's mothers pouch, as the mother relaxes the muscles in pouch area. To begin with the young joey will only spend a few minutes out of the pouch. Overtime the joey will become more confident out of the pouch and stay out for longer periods of time.

Advanced Joey

As the joey becomes older, it is unable to return inside the mothers pouch as the joey now weighs around 30 kg and cannot fit. Although the joey is now more advanced and more independent, it still relies on the for a lot of food and protection from larger males.

Adult

At this stage the kangaroo can weigh up to 90 kg. The adults strong legs allow it to jump almost 30 feet length and 8 feet high. Adult kangaroos can live up to 22 years in the wild. They also have excellent hearing and vision, also can go long periods without water.
