Azaria King

babylon attack

The Beginning

  • The Assyrian Empire was really considered the first real empire.
  • The Assyrian Empire was beautiful and growing larger and larger!
  • The Assyrian Empire sctreched across modern Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Isreal, and parts of turkey, Iran and Egypt.

how it started?

Growth

growth

  • Assyria's rise to dominicance began in the Late bronze Age (1600 and 1200n BCE )
  • A High priest named Arshur-ubalitt took the title of king tranforming Assyria from a city-state to a territorial state
  • Assyria extended its reach and thrived!
  • Assyrians were military inovators and amazing conqueres!
  • The growth of their empire was also due to their stategy of departing local popultations, then shifting them around the empire to fufill different needs!
  • new temples were erected and lavishly decorated

How was it an impact?

  • Assriyan was first a huge impact because they invented the world's first written language
  • they established Hammurabi's code of law
  • they ruled one of the largest empires in world history!
  • they brought aramaic to regions as near as Isreal and as far as Greece
  • another one of their achivements was the devlopment of new milatary equipment and strategy

how was it such an impact?

What started the fall?

  • The assyrians ended up losing so much of their territory!
  • there was so much territory to control, popultion bloom, and severe drought
  • too much territy to control led to the fall of the Assyrian Empire

what started the fall?

The assault of the Babylonians

  • The assyrian empire collapsed under the assualt of babylonians
  • The babylonians had never been content to merely be a part of the Assyrian Empire (to me they seemed jealous)
  • Nabopolassar rose against the Assyrian empire
  • When the Assyrian counter attack failed, Napolassar had himself crowned king, restoring babylon.

Question for you!

Seeing how the Assyrian Empire expanded in so many ways, with so many territories (which was a huge impact) but was also one of the main reasons that caused them to fall, what would you have done to make a huge impact as them but also be able to maintain balance without such a bad turnover ?
