Housing Rules

CSUN is a NON-SMOKING CAMPUS.

Consequence:

  • 1 st Official warning: Fine $200+ per resident.

  • 2nd warning: Additional fine and eviction from dorms without refund. Residents are responsible for guests.

No Smoking

Kitchen

  • Kitchen is located on 3rd floor.
  • Clean the area after each use.
  • Kitchen equipment is not provided.
  • Fire, gas, camping stoves or charcoal are strictly prohibited in the kitchen and your apartment.
  • Make sure hot water pots, coffee makers and rice cookers are used only on the counter or the table.
  • Do not leave the kitchen while you are cooking.
  • Only 2 appliances should be plugged into the outlets in the kitchen.
  • No kitchen appliances are allowed in your bed-room.

  • Take the trash out
  • Clean up spills
  • Wash the dishes
  • Wash the area's used when cooking and eating

Clean Up

  • Do not put ANY FOOD in the SINK or TOILET!!
  • Do not spray insecticides in the kitchen.
  • Do not store medicine in the kitchen.

Help us to keep this place in the best condition!!

  • Don’t throw toilet paper on the floor, throw it in the toilet bowl!!
  • Wipe the seat and flush!

Ladies..

Make a schedule with your roommates to take the trash out daily.

Trash

  • Trash bins are located outside of the building
  • Remove Trash Daily
  • Grease and oil should be cooled, placed in a bottle, and thrown away with the trash.
  • Do not throw any personal trash in the lobby trash can.

Cleaning supplies

You can find cleaning supplies from:

  • Target
  • Walmart
  • Supermarkets
  • Drug stores
  • The 99¢ stores.

Laundry and Maintenance

  • Washers and dryers are located in the 1st floor
  • Do not leave your clothes unattended.
  • Please remember that you are sharing these facilities with many residents.
  • Remove your clothes as soon as they are finished.
  • Please remember to respect others property.

Maintenance

  • Report/request routine maintenance and damages in your room on the housing portal.

  • Call the duty phone 818-497-8273 and contact the RA for emergencies only.

  • Building 6 is open 8am-5pm Monday-Friday.

  • Make sure everything is repaired BEFORE you check out, or you may be charged $$$$.

DO NOT TOUCH HANG ANYTHING from Fire Sprinklers!

Resident is responsible for repairs to all rooms involved $$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Sprinklers release 250 gallons/ 946.353 liters of stinky, oily water will be released into your room, damaging dormitory rooms on lower floors as well.

Quiet and courtesy hours are: 10:00pm-8:00am Everyday!!

Who can drink alcohol?

  • The California drinking age is 21
  • Students 21 and over can drink alcohol
  • All people in the room (not apartment) must be over 21 if they are drinking.
  • Someone 21 cannot give or buy alcohol for someone under 21.
  • Pay attention to the signs of ALCOHOL POISONING. CALL 818.677.2111 for help

Can I smoke marijuana?

No! No! and NO!!!

  • Marijuana, hash, weed, etc. are illegal in California.
  • Medical Marijuana (prescribed by a doctor) cannot be used at CSUN or any school.
  • If you are arrested at school, the consequences are more serious.
  • If you are arrested, you may be sent back to your country.

Dinning dollars not used will roll over to the next week. They must all be used before you move out of IPP housing.

First floor residents, do not leave your balcony doors open and unattended.

Look out the “peephole” installed in your door whenever someone knocks.

Keep

KEEP all money and valuables in a safe place. DO not keep large amounts of cash in your room. Consider leaving valuable items at home or in a safe deposit box. Do not give anyone your PIN numbers.

CLOSE all public area doors behind you. Alarmed exits are in each building and should only be used for emergency purposes.

DO NOT LET people you do not know into the building or your apartment. Close the door behind you!

DO NOT LOAN your key card or keys to anyone.

REPORT suspicious people or circumstances to the RA’s, duty phone 818-497-8273 , or the police. This included vendors and unescorted, non-residents who are inside the building. The department of Student Housing and Conference Services do not allow people to enter housing buildings to sell anything. If someone tries to sell you something in the building, REPORT it.

  • Attend the IPP Housing Check Out Meeting.

Before you leave, please make sure:

  • CANCEL all services to your apartment e.g. phone, cable, etc.

  • CLEAN apartment, otherwise you will be charged a fee.

  • REMOVE all your things from your apartment, or you will be charged.

  • DO NOT leave trash or things anywhere in your apartment, or you will be charged.

  • Complete all documents.

  • Remove all personal mail from your U.S mailbox located in Building 9.

  • Fill out the front and back side of the IPP Check-out Envelope

  • Seal your completed IPP Check-out envelope with both your Check-out form & dorm key.

  • Drop in the KEY DROP BOX located in (Building 12) Saguaro Hall.

  • Remember by 1:00 pm on check out day your key card will expire.

Be aware that there will be housing staff that will inspect your apartment.
