One who denies who Jesus is or offers an alternative path to God.
Characteristics of Antichrist
Antichrists depart from the faithful--vs.19
A--They withdrew
B--They didn't belong
B-Had they belonged, they would have stayed
A--But they withdrew
It's impossible to worship God apart from Jesus.
Antichrists lie and deceive--vs.21, 26
John 8:44—You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies
Antichrists Deny Jesus--vs.22
John 14:6--I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me.
Acts 4:12--Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.
To deny Jesus is to believe the supreme lie

Confess
Confess who Jesus claims to be:
- Son of God
John 5:18--He was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
- Messiah
Matt.16:16--Peter answered, you are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.
- Son of Man
- Lord
Phil.2:10-11--at the name of Jesus every knee should ow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of the Father.
True faith has staying power--vs.24-28
Abide=persevere remain, stay
2 Timothy 4:3
For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.
The Promise for Staying=Eternal Life--vs.25
Faith that doesn't give up:
- even in the face of persecution...it remains
- even in the face of ridicule and hatred...it remains
- even in the face of false teaching...it remains
- even in the midst of a sinful culture...it remains
Matthew 24:13--the one who endures to the end will be saved.
The Key to Abiding...not in this thing alone!
