WW2
The war first started in 1939 when Germany invades Poland on the 1st September and then a few days later Britain and France declare war. A year later, the Blitz on London begins. Later on, Japan bombs Paul Harbour and America joins the war. After that, the first troops arive in Europe. In 1944, D-Day begins and Britain,USA and Canada invade Normandy in France. Finally, in 1945, on the 8th May, there is victory in Europe and Japan surrners.
During the war, ratoning brcame a common thing. Ratoning is when a group of food is shared through a ration book because the germans destroyed the ships that sent food to England.Due to this, Windson Churchill decided to use ration books so evryone got a fair share. The reason we had ratoning was because we wanted to make sure everybody had the same ammount of food.
In the war, soilders stayed and hid in trenches to seek protection from bombs and guns. Trenches were one of the worst things about war. When soilders were at war, they were surrounded by armies of rats, which were as big as cats, puddles of mud and rain and dead bodies everywhere. Trousers and shirts stick to thier bodies, shoes rub against thier foot (making thier have trench foot) and the unbareable scent of sweat, mud and grime.

In WW2 people used ratoning to get food. This was called ratoning and the reason why they did this was because the ships that travelled to England with food got destroyed by Germans. Due to this, Adolf Hitler decided to make ration books to help to make it fair for everyone.
