Corruption

Corruption is a significant obstacle to good governance in the Philippines. A review of recent literature suggests that all levels of corruption, from petty bribery to grand corruption, patronage and state capture, exist in the Philippines at a considerable scale and scope. Significant efforts have been made to combat corruption, which include putting in place legal and institutional frameworks, as well as efforts by civil society organizations and the media.

Lack of Family Planning

Lack of

Family

Planning

Lack of Family Planning can come in forms of teenage pregnancy, having too many children or even living a lifestyle outside the budget expenses of a certain family. Lack of Family Planning can cause poverty as these situations are being not financially prepared to support a family.

Overpopulation

Over

population

Poverty is believed to be the leading cause of overpopulation. A lack of educational resources, paired with high death rates leading to higher birth rates, result in impoverished areas seeing large booms in population.

Domestic Violence

Domestic

Violence

Domestic violence is more common in poorer households. Women in low-income households are 3.5 times more likely than women in marginally better-off households to experience domestic abuse. The connections are complex, but one thing is certain: poverty exacerbates domestic violence by increasing or prolonging women's exposure to it by reducing their ability to leave.

Physical and Mental

Illness

Physical & Mental Illness

Poverty negatively affects our physical and mental health because of the lack of resources to provide life necessities, such as food, clean water, shelter, and clothing, and the lack of access to healthcare facilities.
