What's my personality type?
After taking the big five personality test, I wasn’t very surprised by my results. I consider myself a creative person, so it was to no surprise when I ended up in the 77th percentile for open mindedness. Meaning I am original, creative, curious and complex. Compared to my scores for Open-mindedness, I scored very low for conscientiousness, placing in the 33rd percentile. Meaning I am disorganized, undependable and negligent which makes sense because these are all ADD traits and I have ADD. I also scored low in the Extraversion category, scoring in the 38th percentile, meaning I am introverted, reserved, inhibited and quiet. This is somewhat true because I am shy if I’m not comfortable or don’t know someone, but once I’m comfortable I’m more outgoing and talkative. I scored in the 51st percentile for agreeableness, meaning I am neither extremely forgiving not irritable which I agree with. In the negative emotionality category I scored in the 19th percentile meaning I remain calm even in tense situations. I agree with this statement because I usually stay relaxed in situations even when I should be nervous or worrying.
I often have dreams where I’m falling but I wake up before I hit the ground. I recently had a dream where I was climbing on the edge of a cliff and slipped and fell. According to the dream analysis there are several reasons why I could be experiencing this type of dream. I think the reason is that falling is a result of physiology. When you “fall asleep” the physiological changes within the body can trigger a falling dream. When falling in a dream I usually wake up when I feel my whole body jerk or twitch. This jolt is known as a myoclonic jerk.
During the oral stage, which usually occurs from birth to one year of age, an infants main source of interaction occurs through the mouth. This is when the sucking and rooting reflex is most important. In this stage the infant gets pleasure from oral stimulation through eating, tasting, sucking, etc. During the oral stage, because the infant is completely dependent on his or her caretakers, the baby develops a sense of comfort and trust through oral stimulation. The main conflict that occurs at this stage is when the child becomes less dependent on his or her caretakers. According to Freud, If fixation occurs, the child will have dependency or aggression issues. Oral fixation can result in problems with eating, drinking, smoking or nail biting. In my infancy, I constantly had a bottle or a pacifier in my mouth. My said it wasn’t hard to take the pacifier away from me when she thought I was getting too old. However, I still bite my nails to this day.

The personality trait that showed up the most often was “chill.” I do agree that this trait is an important feature in my personality. I am very laid back and easygoing, which we’re also words that were used to describe me.
In contrast to being referred to as quiet, which I think I am, I was also referred to as outgoing. This just goes to show how different I am when I’m with people i’m not comfortable with verses people i am comfortable with.
I was surprised by “independent” being listed as one of my personality traits. In my opinion, I don’t think I’m very independent, I’m actually very dependent on my mom. Which most people don’t really see, so it makes sense that they would think I am independent.
I thought the words “smart” or “intelligent” would come up in my cards, because I do well in school. However, I understand why those words didn’t come up because I don’t really come off smart because I’m usually just not paying attention.
I think that the trait theory of personality is the most valid. The trait theory is based on the traits that are found in our personalities and how those traits influence our behaviors. Overall most people have the same traits but each person expresses these traits differently. For example, almost everyone can be loving, however, everyone expresses love in their own ways. The trait theory separates personality into two categories; introverted and extroverted. According to this theory I am an introvert, meaning I am on the shy side and require time by myself. This describes me perfectly, while an extrovert is energetic and never wants to be alone. The trait theory is the most valid of the personality theories because it’s based off of a broad range of traits and isn’t too specific making it possible to categorize everyone as either an introvert or an extrovert.

BIRTH ORDER ANALYSIS
I am the second and last born child in my family. In my opinion, Birth order can affect someone personality only to an extent. The last born child according to this birth order analysis is supposed to be fun loving, uncomplicated, manipulative, outgoing, attention seeking and self centered. I agree that I am fun loving and uncomplicated because I always like to have a good time and i’m not usually argumentative or complicated. However, I don’t feel that I am manipulative, attention seeking, self centered or outgoing. I’m usually more on the shy side, I don’t like to draw attention to myself and I usually try to avoid conflict.
