About the library

• There is a library at each of our campuses: Bø, Drammen, Kongsberg, Notodden, Porsgrunn, Rauland, Ringerike and Vestfold.

• More than 300 000 books, 300 000 e-books, 70 databases and 30 000 journals.

• Search and find literature through Oria and our databases.

Drammen library

• Located on the 1st floor at Papirbredden 1.

• You can find the library counter as well as IT Helpdesk.

• Several group study rooms and work spaces.

• Quiet reading room.

• Computers and printers.

Opening hours

• The library is manned:

Monday - Thursday 8:30am-6:00pm.

Friday 8:30am-3:00pm.

• The library offers extended opening hours each day, all year, between 7:00am-11:45pm.

Group study rooms

• The group study rooms must be booked.

• You can book one week in advance at my.usn.no.

• You need to be at least two persons, and the room must be used within 15 minutes of the reserved time.

Courses

• The library offers several courses in English throughout the semester:
• How to cite?
• Getting started with EndNote/Zotero

• Interested in courses in English? Please ask your teacher to book a librarian for your class!

• The courses will be announced in the library and on the library web page.

Borrow and return

• Students use their student card as a library loan card. You can also use the app "Studentbevis"

• You are responsible for any items you borrow, and you need to return the items when they are due.

• Lending time is normally 3 weeks. The library also offers one day loans on curriculum.

• Loans are automatically renewed if the material is not reserved for others (for a maximum of 9 weeks).

• You will get a reminder when the borrowed items are due.

Reading lists

• You will find the reading list for your subject in Canvas.

• You can search for the list in Leganto.

• You can search for the list in Oria.

• Visit the book store on campus.

Oria

• Search for books and articles.

• You can find available books on the shelves in the library.

• You can order books that are on loan, and request literature that is not available at Drammen campus library.

• You can see your loans and orders when logged in.

How to find the book?

• Write down the location of the book, or take a picture with your phone.

• Find the shelf that matches the numbers you have written down.

• Find the book that matches the numbers and letters you have written down.

• Ask a librarian to help you.

Academic writing centre

• Offers 45 minutes consultation with a writing advisor
• Get help with term papers, bachelor and master thesis
• Get help in all stages of the writing process - from developing a thesis statement to assistance with drafts of the paper
• You can book appointments in both Norwegian and English
