Projects & Insights

a nut in a nutshell...

reccuring themes...

Hola!

I was raised in El Paso, Texas by a village of strong women and hilarious siblings (10) and cousins (50). I have an obsession with the 1920s & 30s that I can not explain. My degrees are from Northwestern, but that's all a blur and I'm just proud of myself for surviving the cold. Random things I've done that *could* potentially inform staffing:

former ballet dancer/dance teacher/

truck driver/bartender/waitress/

stand-up/voice over actor/

current neurodivergent

mother of a trilingual

4 and 6 year old who

identify as a lizard

and a fox/happy

wife of a USC

professor who is

a social scientist

from Minnesota.

Also, I'm obsessed

with unique regions

of the US, everything

remotely British, BBQ,

La Belle Époque, and

finding the best

croissant in LA.

Ever since I cut a mean girl's ponytail off in grade school -- and got away with it -- I've been interested in justice and guilt. Mostly by accident, these themes pop up in everything I write. Flawed women also pop up a lot. Some stoic, some plucky, some outright cray... they all manage to get themselves into trouble and miraculously, eventually, get their way out of it -- ususally via creativity, resourcefulnes, humor, gumption, and the secret ingredient -- friendships with other women. Oh, and bourbon, the actual secret ingredient is pretty much always bourbon.

The Rose Code

If I had to pick a favorite writer right now,

it would be Kate Quinn, I know Ben Stillman

at Black Bear Pictures wa planning on making The Rose Code into a limited series, but haven't seen any news on it since 2021.

Anna Godbersen creates gorgeous worlds filled with social expectations and class drama -- definitely my cup of tea!

I wonder what is going on with these amazing books from Alloy...

I absolutely love both of these projects!

I'm looking forward to getting your notes,

doing quick rewrites, and then deciding whether we should pitch them as projects, or use them as samples for staffing or development opportunities.

ATX

Sizzle Reel

Origin of Series

Based on history’s longest surviving trilogy, The Oresteia, which chronicles the end of the House of Atreus, ATX delves into the genesis of a political powerhouse -- exposing strife and ambition, moral atrophy, and family secrets -- all through the sparkling lens of the most elite sorority in Texas.

Ultimately, the show is a fun, glossy

soap complete with elements of wish

fullfilment, thriller and mystery.

Series

Overview

The pilot is basically Gossip Girl

meets Pretty Little Liars at rush.

Harrison, Ark.

hour long, premium soap

Logline: When a successful, biracial author returns to her birthplace, the secrets she unearths are enough to shake her to the core and bring the town to its knees.

This one is tricky because it deals with a lot of sensitive issues. Ultimately, I think it would be a good sample to get me in a room for an edgy procedural or something dealing with the current politcal climate. If we decide to pitch or develop it, I'd love to get a BIPOC producer or director involved as a next step.

TRIGGER WARNING: There are offensive words in both the trailer and the script.

the Newport Set

a sparkling 1930s soap

(The Gilded Age meets Yellowjackets)

The Newport

Set

The show follows the legacies and fortunes of the Shaw and Carver families (based on the Astors, Carters, and Thayers) -- whose daughters serve the same function as princesses and starlets -- providing escapism, glamour, and excitement to the country as it goes through the hell of the Great Depression. The lens is glossy, all white tennis outfits, silk dresses, and dazzling debutante balls, as we enter the brick mansions of Newport and focus on these bright young things, full of moxie and promise.

As this world comes into clearer focus, though, we will learn that the matriarchs grooming these girls for the alter

have more than privileged surnames in common... twenty years ago, when the Titanic sank, they were amoung the women who made it into Lifeboat #4, and, to this day, they're haunted by the decisions and sacrifices they made that fateful night.

Regression

hour long Sci-fi Soap

Regression

When a scientist discovers a trend in young children – that stereoscopic vision and depth perception are becoming increasingly limited, she hypothesizes that the human race is beginning to regress.

Society has to face the stark reality that human kind will never be more "advanced" than it is right now, and the current generation must plan for the future of the species.

In the midst of it all, the scientist and her partner find themselves trying to raise their children, only one of whom is "normal," with opposing beliefs about whether the new mutations are regressive or progressive for the species.

Shankill

Shankill

a gory premium soap

The story of the Shankill Butchers, the Ulster loyalist gang in Belfast in the 70s, responsible for 23 grisly murders, told from the point of view of the leader’s sister – a teenage spitfire named Josie Kate Murphy.

(Spoiler Alert: Most of the gang were eventually caught and, in February 1979, received the longest combined prison sentence in United Kingdom legal history.)

Current Feature Scripts

So... I wrote Minnesota Nice as a

feature before I turned in into a pilot. It's the same fun cast of characters, but instead of being left open ended there's a definite arc & finality to this version!

Primas is a basic tween feature set in the dance world that might be fun fare for a streamer. We could easily heighten the holiday element and lower the budget!

La Pelirroja

(the Redhead)

Pelirroja

(the Redhead)

Carrie Clements itsn't just the only redhead at her entire El Paso high school, she's also the only sophomore who's taken ballet for a decade and the SAT four times. An outsiser in every way and an aggressive overachiever, Carrie makes an unlikely alliance with the Martinez family, helping them creatively traffic drugs for a while, before realizing that they're actually working for El Chapo and a really fucking next level scary mid-90s Mexican cartel. Basically, this is a story about how a girl with straight As and no common sense has her pasty white ass saved by some brilliant cholas and ends up becoming more popular than her smug cheerleader sister, Crunchy Bitch Supreme.

The Spare

When a long-hidden secret reveals that the wrong twin has been groomed for the throne, the fate of the monarchy falls on the exceedingly incapable shoulders of a royal hotmess of a Princess… but first she’s got find out who killed her father. (Fleabag meets Knives Out)

Rosie's Men

coming of age comedy

Rosie's Men

With WWII raging, 14 year old wallflower, Rosemary Kelly, wants to find a meaningful way to contribute to the cause -- when her job at the library finds her answering letters to boys on the front, she spends the next four years weaving a fantasy of humor and hope that results in over three thousand correspondences and thirty six marriage proposals -- all of which she'll put to good use of when she matchmakes the single girls in her Freshman college class as Vassar.
