DIFFERENT TYPES

OF ECOSYSTEMS

Cover around 71% of Earth's surface and contain 97% of our planet's water.

This ecosystem presents high amounts of minerals and dissolved sales in them.

The Marine Ecosystem

Different divisions of the marine ecosystem:

  • Oceanic
  • Deep
  • Substrates of the benthic bottom
  • Intertidal
  • Estuaries
  • Coral reefs
  • Marshes

Types of organisms that live in marine ecosystems: brown algae, corals, cephalopods, echinoderms, dinoflagellates and sharks.

They are ecosystems in which an abundance of flora or plants is observed. A small change in this ecosystem could affect the entire equilibrium, effectively reducing the entire ecosystem.

The Forest Ecosystems

They are

divided into:

  • Tropical evergreen forest: They are tropical forests that are characterized by a dense vegetation that includes tall trees at different heights and each level is a refuge for different types of animals.
  • Tropical Deciduous Forest: Dense shrubs join a wide selection of trees. The type of forest is found in many parts of the world with a wide range of flora and fauna.
  • Temperate evergreen forest: Those have enough trees, since the mosses and ferns compensate them. The trees have developed barbed leaves to minimize perspiration.
  • Temperate deciduous forest: the forest is located in humid temperate places that have enough rain. Summers and winters are clearly defined and trees eliminate leaves during the winter months.
  • Taiga: Located just before the Arctic regions. As the temperature is below zero for almost half a year, the rest of the months, it buzzes with migratory birds and insects.

They occupy approximately 17 percent of all the land on our planet. Due to the extremely high temperature, low availability of water and intense sunlight, fauna and flora are scarce; The vegetation is mainly shrubs, bushes, few herbs. The best known are succulents, such as cactus with thorny leaves and animals such as insects, birds, camels, reptiles, all of which are adapted to desert conditions.

The Desert Ecosystem

These are found in the tropical and temperate regions of the world.

It contains a small number of trees and its main vegetation are grasses, plants and legumes.

The Grassland Ecosystem

They are seasonally dry and have few individual trees and contain a large number of predators and herbivores.

Savannah:(tropical prairie)

It covers large shrubs and trees. And mixed grass, tall grass and short grass meadows are produced.

Prairies: (temperate meadow)

Diversity of habitats where you can find a lot of animals and plants.

At high altitudes alpine vegetation survives and on its slopes there are coniferous forests.

The Mountain Ecosystem

It covers only 0.8% of the Earth's surface and contains 0.009% of the total water.

The Freshwater Ecosystem

Basic types of freshwater ecosystems:

  • Lentico: water in pools, lakes or ponds.
  • Lotic: fast moving water like streams and rivers.
  • Wetlands: places where the soil is flooded for a long period of time.
