American Racecars

compare/contrast

Do you know how fast a race car can go? An American stock racer's top speed peaks at 231.5 mph. While a European racing VW bug's top speed cuts pretty close to a race cars speed measuring 205 mph. That is only 26.5mph away from a race car. One way that race cars are faster is because they are more aerodynamic. Another reason is because they have a better engine that has more horsepower.

DESCRIPTION

What is a race car? A race car is a car that has a modified engine to be able to go much faster than the car you have at home. A race car also has a modified frame and body to reduce air from going past to slow it down. There are many ways that racecars are modified to be different from regular cars like the one at your house, and I have only said a few.

DESCRIPTION

CAUSE/EFFECT

Do you know why people don't use punchbuggys for racing any more? The reason is because we started getting better technology. And because of that better technology we were able to make bigger, better, and faster cars for racing. Another effect of the new technology is the popularity increase in watching a race.

CAUSE / EFFECT

PROBLEM/SOLUTION

Do you know one problem that racecars have? One problem is that there is to high of a risk that the racecars will crash. A solution to that problem is to modify a racecar's body to have thicker and stronger metal so whenever racecars bump they don't skid off course and crash. Another problem is that racecars need to change tires and refuel so much that they are barely ever on the track. A solution to that is to give racecars bigger fuel tanks and bigger tires.

SEQUENCE/CHRONOLOGICAL

Do you know how racecars are made? First you have to draw out the design. Then you have to make the frame of the racecar. Next you have to add the body.and finally you either make or buy wheels to put on your racecar. Then you can test your new car! I hope you get the basics of making a racecar now.
