* Create upper level course (CMST 3910 or
CMST 4999) in which communication majors would engage in student research and observation regarding the impacts of studying and employing nonverbal communication techniques in the classroom.
* Based on the compiled research, the students would create a presentation/workshop available to both LSUA faculty and faculty in three local high schools.
* Students may also attend and/or submit to the Southern States Communication Association convention in Frisco, TX
(90th Annual Convention: April 1-5, 2020)
Costs include conference travel (example: Conference fees for 4 students $2000 or 4 @$500)
Workshop publication expenses for advertising and promotion as well as handouts/curriculum
Travel expenses to local high schools
(Gas, meals, etc)
1. Opportunities for student research in higher-level thinking
2. Practical application of learning
3. Study and practice in presenting and facilitating participatory activities for faculty
4. Travel opportunities and exposure to other communication professionals
5. Possibility of publication of research findings
1. Increased awareness and knowledge of nonverbal immediacy in the classroom

LSUA in our area high schools
