Rolfing's Community Study Room provides space for families to study, campus and community organizations to meet, and study groups to collaborate. Reservations can be made online!
http://library.tiu.edu/studyroom
A lot of generous scholars donate books to Rolfing -- and we share the blessings! We have big sales from time to time, but we'll always have rotating stock on the shelf. Suggested donation of $1 per book, payable at the checkout desk.
At Rolfing, we like to equip and encourage readers of all ages. We have two collections for our youngest patrons:
Rolfing's newest collection (created in December 2018),
the YA Collection is aimed toward tweens, teens, and anyone young at heart -- or anyone who could use a break from academic reading.
Rolfing's Undergraduate Lounge provides Trinity College students with a place to congregate and collaborate. This space includes two public murals; movable tables, white boards, and wide screen monitor; and lots of soft furniture. This space is open to all patrons until 4:00 PM.
At Rolfing, we like to connect with what's happening in the campus community and wider world. Every month we'll display books and media about two topics that tie in with current events and/or pertinent subjects.
We're constantly adding titles to our collection at Rolfing! Here, you'll be able to see books and media we've acquired from this year and last year.
The folks who work at these desks help you to get what you need for the projects you're working on. Here, you can check out books and supplies (desk lights, headphones, book stands, etc.), purchase supplies, find books professors have put on reserve, and pick up books you've requested through I-Share and Worldshare. You can also pay your fines and add money to your Papercut account here.
Can't find the book you're looking for? Need help refining your research topic? Printer glitching on you? Bring these questions (and just about any others you can think of) to the Reference Helpdesk on weekday business hours during the semester, and our trained library staff would be glad to help!
(Can't get to campus? Ask us a question on Library HelpChat, accessible from Rolfing's webpage.)
Study with your friends, share a meal, play a game -- this area of Rolfing is for you to share time and space with one another. A microwave, Keurig machine, tea kettle, and two vending machines are available when studying makes you work up an appetite.
Looking for a movie to watch over the weekend? Want some tunes to accompany your study session? Need an audiobook to listen to on your next road trip? Rolfing has what you need! We've also put over 30 years of Trinity Chapel messages onto CDs, and we have even more audiobooks available online via Overdrive.
TIU's faculty (both past and present) are globally renowned for their scholarship -- Rolfing's Faculty Authors Collection highlights their contributions. Curl up in front of the fire with your favorite book for a cozy afternoon of reading.
Natural light has been shown to increase the effectiveness of studying -- it makes you more alert and productive. Come reap the benefits of the ground-to-ceiling windows at the study tables in and around the Reference Collection.
Before the days of PDFs, libraries saved space by putting books and periodicals on microfilm and microfiche. Our collection contains mostly journals and conference papers, and can be viewed through the microform reader (beside the scanners).
Looking for books that won't get borrowed out from under you? Titles in our Reference Collection have to stay in the library at all times -- so they'll be there when you need them!
Rolfing's Journals Collection holds bound copies of thousands of periodicals (and provides some of the best studying space in the library). Can't find what you're looking for in print? Check online through databases like ATLA or EBSCO -- many of our articles are available as PDFs.

While Rolfing subscribes electronically to most of our journals these days, we still continue to receive a number of print titles. Journals that are too new to bind together can be found in our Current Journals display. (Lift up the shelf to find previous issues.)
If books are too big to fit on our shelves in the Main Collection, we'll put them into Oversize. You're still able to check them out -- but you may need strong arms to carry them home with you!
Also next to our Oversize Collection is a section of doctoral carrels. Don't touch -- contents belong to the carrel occupants!
Rolfing has one of the most comprehensive collections of biblical commentaries in the region, and they can be found in this section. We also have a number of commentaries available as ebooks -- check the library's website for details.
The study tables beside our Main Collection will give you plenty of room to spread out or to (quietly) collaborate with classmates. Plus, half of our books are literally feet away!
In the summer of 2018, we shifted the A - BS books forward in the library to make them more accessible. In this section, you'll find general reference works, as well as works about philosophy, psychology, ethics, various world religions, and Christianity.
Left your computer at home? Use one of ours! The approximately 30 PCs in this lab are equipped with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Mathematica computation/visualization software, and various other programs.
Do all your group members need to see your presentation at once? Want privacy for an upcoming video conference? Rolfing's Tech Room has what you need: a large-screen monitor wired to a webcam, and a table big enough to gather around. Checkout A/V peripherals at the checkout desk. This room may be reserved for 2 hours per person, per day.

Need a place to plan a project or presentation? Does an upcoming test require a team effort? Sign up for one of our four group study rooms! You can reserve a room for up to two hours per day, and at least two people must be using the room at a time (no single study sessions, please). Each room holds a different number of people, so be sure to check before you book!

The largest of our study rooms, #1 has two tables and a whiteboard, and can seat 2-8 people. It may be checked out for a maximum of 2 hours per person, per day.

Moms are important to us at Rolfing. If you need privacy to nurse or pump, simply ask for the key at the checkout counter.

Trinity Masters and Doctoral students put a lot of thought and effort into their major projects -- and we celebrate it at Rolfing. This collection contains the doctoral dissertations and projects, and masters theses of over 50 years of TIU students. (Recent major projects can be found online through ProQuest.)
Books in this section focus on music, the arts, language, literature, science and medicine, technology, and military science.
This section of our Main Collection contains works about doctrinal and practical theology, Christian denominations, world history, and American history.
If you need complete silence for concentration, this is the one place in the library where you're guaranteed to get it.
No talking allowed.
If you're a doctoral student or a master's student working on your thesis, and need space to study (or don't want to haul books back and forth to the library), you can check out a study carrel for the semester. No food, please -- and make sure that all the books you store are either owned by you or checked out to you. (We check periodically.)
In this section, you can find books about geography, social sciences, political science, law, and education.
Trinity College and Graduate School train scores of students to be K-12 teachers every year. To support their learning, we've collected sets of curriculum for their study and use.
