Dorothy lives on a farm in Kansas in the early 20th century. One day, a tornado moves her house to a magical world called Oz. Dorothy's house lands on the Wicked Witch of the East and kills her.
Dorothy can't return home without the help of the Wizard, who lives far away in the Emerald City. The Wicked Witch of the West wants to stop Dorothy because Dorothy has taken her sister's red slippers.
Dorothy follows the yellow brick road toward the Emerald City. In the beginning of her journey, she meets three friends.
The Wicked Witch tries to stop the group several times while they travel, but she can't.
Finally, Dorothy and her friends arrive in the Emerald City. They ask the Wizard to help Dorothy get home.
However, the Wizard tells them that they have to kill the Wicked Witch first. If they can do that, then he will help them.
Dorothy and her friends find the witch and kill her by pouring a bucket of water on her head, making her melt.
Dorothy and her friends return to the wizard and tell him that they have killed the witch.
He tells them he does not have magical powers—he lied! Dorothy and her friends are sad.
Fortunately, Glinda the Good Witch arrives and tells Dorothy that she can get home by using the power of the red slippers.
Dorothy uses the slippers and wakes up in her bed in Kansas, surrounded by her family. She is so happy to be home that she does not care that nobody believes her story about Oz.
