Public Sector

Public sector organisations are services given to the population funded by public money. one of the main aims the public sector has is to inform, educate and provide a service to its customers. unlike the private sector, the public sectors main focus isn't to make a profit, but focus more on producing jobs through the tourism industry and improving facilities for tourists and local people.

The public sector is eager to evolve tourism as it brings much needed income to various parts of the country and can help to renovate areas and also enhance people's quality of life.

The DCMS (department of culture, media and sports) are accountable for supporting the tourism industry at a national level.

An example of a local sector is Visit Llandudno. Visit Llandudno gives tourists the opportunity to discover the best of North Wales. it is a website that provides useful information for tourists, this includes - things to do, events, accommodation, towns and villages, the outdoors, heritage information and general visitor information.

Wales is a very popular destination for tourists and becoming more popular each year. There were 11% more tourists in 2017 than 2015. VisitWales.com is a dedicated website providing information to make tourists visits to Wales an enjoyable.

Visit Wales is a tourism team belonging to the Welsh Government. The purpose of Visit Wales is to advertise tourism opportunities in wales and to help the tourism industry. The website also allows people to search for accommodation, activities, attractions and events.

Visit Wales is important to the tourism industry because they promote Wales as a destination, this increases the amount of tourism, making more jobs and allowing facilities to be improved in different areas for both tourists and local people.

The aims of Visit wales by the end of 2018 include:

The European Travel Commission is a non-profit organisation that has a responsibility for the promotion of Europe as a tourist destination. the European Travel Commission focus mainly on-

Most organisations working in the travel and tourism industry are in the private sector. some examples of private sector organisations are airlines, tour operators, travel agencies, visitor attractions etc. most organisations are small and medium sized businesses employing up to 250 people or very small businesses employing less than 10 people.

Private sector organisations mainly focus on making a profit unlike the public sector.

Surf Snowdonia is located in the Conwy Valley in North Wales. it's surrounded by rivers, mountains, woodlands and wildlife of Snowdonia. A bit of history:

Surf Snowdonia built their lagoon on an industrial site which used to be an aluminium factory but used to be in very bad condition. during the construction of Surf Snowdonia they got rid of 100 years worth of industrial waste and also recycled thousands of tonnes of stone and metal.

Surf Snowdonia is a focal point of Dolgarrog and is just a few metres from the banks of the river Conwy. It is also close to a special scientific interest site.

Surf Snowdonia offers a range of different activities for both tourists and local people such as-

a Crash and Splash lagoon giving tourists and local people an adrenalin thrill, soft play shack for younger children and events including festivals, campervan weekends and mud runs.

British Airways is one of the mst well known airlines and also one of the biggest in terms of international scheduled services.

Over the last five years British airways has taken delivery of 57 new, fuel efficient and quieter aircrafts, this is including A380s and Boeing 787 Dreamliners. By 2020 British Airways will have received 100 new aircraft in less than 10 years"

British Airways bases are at two airports in London, these are Heathrow and Gatwick. the Airline offers four different types of cabin service ranging from Economy to Club world.

Voluntary sector organisations are usually charities or trusts. These organisations are funded through their members, sponserships, fundraising and donations. The main aims of Voluntary sector Organisations are to preserve, promote and protect their cause.

The Voluntary sector can also be known as the 'not-for-profit' sector. This sector includes trusts, charities, community groups and non-governmental organisations that take part in environmental protection, community activities with a positive outcome on the environment, society and economy, minority groups, youth organisations and heritage management.

Voluntary sector organisations can have a big range in size and aims. Voluntary Organisations at local, national and international levels benifit from advice and financial help from the public and private sectors, this can sometimes be in the form of a sponsership.

North Wales Wildlife Trust

North Wales wildlife trust own 36 nature reserves with the help and support of volunteers and members. They work together with landowners and other organisations to protect and join wildlife sites together, they also work to insire local communities and young people to get involved in caring for the wildlife in their local area.

"North Wales Naturalist's Trust was formed on October 26th 1963. Over 50 years later our name may have changed, but the motivation that inspired our founders remains the same. Over the years the number of reserves cared for by the Trust has grown steadily, now covering over 750 hectares, thanks to gifts of land and site purchases through fundraising. The National Trust is a charity founded in 1985 by three people who took an interest in the importance of the nations heritage and open spaces and decided they wanted to preserve them.Over 120 years later these values are still the main reason they are doing what they do.

The National Trust look after different places throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland. They look after forests, coastlines, woods, beaches, islands, archaeological remains, nature reserves, villages and many other special places.

they also take care of one of the worlds biggest art collections. The trust works to restore these special places and also works to protect them and allow other people to enjoy them.

The trust welcomes people to explore:

- 775 miles of coastline

- Over 248,000 hectares of land

- Over 500 historic houses, castles, ancient monuments gardens and parks and nature reserves.

- Close to one million objects and works of art
