Learner Profile Traits

Learner Traits Pt. 1

Inquirers develop their natural curiosity and ask questions. They enjoy learning and actively seek answers to questions.

Knowledgeable students explore concepts, ideas, and issues that have local and global significance, and in so doing, they learn and acquire knowledge and understanding across a broad range of disciplines.

Thinkers exercise initiative in applying thinking skills critically & creatively to approach and deal with complex problems. They make reasoned, ethical decisions.

Communicators understand and express ideas and information confidently and creatively in a variety of modes of communication. They can work effectively and willingly with others.

Learner profile Traits

Principled learners act with integrity and honesty, with a strong sense of fairness, justice, and respect the dignity of others—individuals, groups, and communities. They take responsibility for their actions—and the accompanying consequences.

Open-minded learners understand their own cultures and personal histories, and they are open to other perspectives, values, and traditions of others.

Caring learners show empathy, compassion, and respect towards the needs and feelings of others. They make a positive different in the lives around them.

Risk-takers approach unfamiliar situations with courage and forethought; they have the independence to explore new roles, ideals, and strategies.

Balanced learners understand the importance of holistic learning and well-being.

Reflective learners give consideration to their own learning and experiences, including their mistakes, limitations, and issues as much as their strengths and successes.

Learner Traits pt. 2

which traits fit you?

Now that you know the traits:

  • Which is your strength?
  • Which do you hope to improve this year?
  • Why do these traits matter to a learner in the 21st century?

Write a short paragraph for each of these questions in your notebook
