On 6 June 1859 Queen Victoria was given the honor of signing letters that would allow her to form the colony of Queensland

In 1824, Moreton Bay was established as a penal settlement but soon moved to Brisbane.

Queensland only agreed to federate in 1899 when their parliament were completely sure of the other colonies such as New south wales joining Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia in federating.
