Peter Cartwright

¿Cómo, pues, invocarán a aquel en el cual no han creído? ¿Y cómo creerán en aquel de quien no han oído? ¿Y cómo oirán sin haber quien les predique?

Romanos 10:14

Introduction

Would you like to be a preacher?

Did you know that...?

Knowing a circuit

By 1700's preachers were assigned a circuit, a certain number of places to visit and preach. A circuit Rider had so many stops on his circuit that it took 5 or 6 weeks for him to finish the circuit and to start over again.

Peter Cartwright was born in Virginia in 1785. His father decided to move to Kentucky. His family followed Daniel´s Wilderness Road through the mountains.

A move to Kentucky

Life in pioneer times was not easy. Each person had many jobs to do, but they rested on Sundays. Some of the pioneers worshiped on this day, but others did not care about God, Peter was one of them. In fact, the place where the Cartwrights lived was called "Rogue´s harbor". Rogue means a person who is dishonest.
