Summary
In chapter 9 Jonas gets the instructions for his assignment and he is surprised. Jonas is kind of nervous for his training because it is sopposed to be painful. He also doesn't know that much about his new job. Jonas reads his instructions for his job and he relizes he has never been allowed to do these things before. Jonas is realizing that he might have to LIE for his job!

2. Go immediately to your dwelling at the conclusion of Training
Hours each day.
3. From this moment you are exempted from rules governing
rudeness. You may ask any question of any citizen and you will
receive answers.
4. Do not discuss your training with any other member of the
community, including parents and Elders.
5. From this moment you are prohibited from dream-telling.
6. Except for illness or injury unrelated to your training, do not apply
for any medication.
7. You are not permitted to apply for release.
8. You may lie.

Jonas was surprised when he read his instructions. Jonas wondered what would happen to his life, would it be the same? Were his happy times going to be taken from. All his insructions were ecxpected at all times. Jonas was a little nervous because he didn't know exectly what time to go to those places. On the last instruction the book says that Jonas was stunned, that is because he was raised to be perfect and not lie. Since training for Jonas was supposed to be painful Jonas was nervous about not being able to take medicine for training. Jonas was glad to be excused from dream telling because he didn't dream that often.
