Unfortunately because of Covid-19 the castle is closed, but that doesn't mean we can't visit it. You have two solutions.
I'm going to start by telling you about the history of Versailles, which was quite eventful.
At first, King Louis XIII had a simple hunting lodge built on the site, then a simple country residence. Then he decided to rebuild it in 1631 so that in 1634 the construction was the beginning of the Palace of Versailles as we know it today.
It is with the arrival of the young king Louis XIV that things change and he decides to take things in hand to build the masterpiece of his life.
The creation of the Royal Chapel, the north wing, the south wing and many others.
Under Louis XV, the castle underwent major interior and exterior transformations during his reign, including the construction of the grand theatre, also known as the Royal Opera.
During the reign of Louis XVI no major changes were made to the castle. However, as everyone knows, the Revolution broke out and the king and his family were forced to leave the castle.
It was not until the accession to the throne of Louis-Philippe as "King of the French" in 1830 that Versailles was truly renewed. The titanic works he undertook in the castle caused the disappearance of former court areas, but saved the castle.
You can visit the castle in total immersion thanks to an application and a virtual reality headset, here is a video to show you what you can see with this: https://youtu.be/ln-SceumPlI.

I really advise you to go and spend some time on the site to see it all in detail. If I chose to present this place, it's because I went there last July with my sister and I really spent a great day. I had always wanted to go there to see the castle and especially the gardens, and it is really beautiful. The tours are really well done and you are really immersed in the monarchy.
