Hi Year 5,
We are the 7D Science Class and we can't wait for you to visit us on Friday and participate in some science activities.
This is the Science block in the school.
Some of our class will meet you on Friday morning and bring you to the lab.
There are 25 students in our class and our teacher's name is Mrs McDowell.
There are a few away on holiday already so there will be about 20 of us on the day.
There will be gas, flames, chemicals and electricity involved in some of the practicals.
You will be provided with safety glasses, a lab coat and gloves.
If you don't feel confident participating in a particular prac, you can just observe (watch).
Science labs can be very exciting and interesting places.
They can also be dangerous if you do not follow instructions.
To ensure you are kept safe, please listen to all teacher instructions.
No running, throwing etc.
No eating.
Follow teacher/Year 7 instructions at all times.
Kept your voices down, they will echo in the lab and it will be difficult to hear instructions, especially in an emergency.
We want you to enjoy the experiences, not be scared of them!
In case of emergencies, please listen to the teacher's directions and follow immediately.
Again, we are using gas, electricity, chemicals and flames, so it is important to listen.
If you do hurt yourself or break
something, tell the teacher straight away
This isn't to get you into trouble,
but to make sure you are ok,
and that there is no further
danger.
There will be two chemistry pracs
This will be run by Dana, Zara, Jaziba and Bushra.
It looks at a pretty cool chemical reaction - how different chemicals mix with each other.
This looks at how different chemicals react when placed in flame.
