New Teacher Induction Program

The New Educator Excellence Program (NEEP) strives to support who are new to the school, district, and/or profession to aim for excellence, adapt to the school environment, and create learning experiences that will attribute to a rigorous and quality education for students.

Session Purpose

This session's purpose is to communicate expectations, share information, and support new teachers to our school. The following professional development session will be standards-based, differentiated, and learner-centered.

Learning Objectives

In this session you will...

  • learn useful research-based tools to use in the classroom, with a focus on classroom management
  • discuss Marzano's nine instructional strategies
  • share about ideas and next steps for meeting the needs of diverse learners
  • review progress monitoring and assessment strategies
  • apply a focus on student learning, which should guide assessment of its effectiveness

Activity 1

Sharing of School Expectations, Norms, and Procedures

  • Admin to share about expectations and PBSS (10 minutes)

  • Team Leaders conduct norms and procedures meeting (15 minutes)

Activity 2

  • Meet with your mentor (5 minutes)

  • Fill out interview sheet (5 minutes)

  • Agree on a time to meet this month (1 minute)

Review Data Needs

After surveying teachers we found that we must focus on the following:

  • Classroom Management and swPBSS
  • Student assessment and data
  • Communication and collaboration with colleagues

Evaluation Instrument

Marzano Scale

Each teacher will have a Marzano Map in front of them, take a look!

This is the scale on which each teacher will be evaluated. You will create a growth plan later in the year to focus in on parts of the scale that you would like to focus on as a teacher.

This will be used as an observation guide.
