When and how long did they celebrated?

- It was celebrated probably from year AD 793 to AD 1000+

- It was celebrated every nine years

- In age of the Vikings so about 200 years

- They celebrated it for nine days

Where did the celebration took place?

Where?

- Uppsala the temple – as a golden temple with wooden statues of Gods

- The temple lies in Sweden, 70 km north from Stockholm

- Now it‘s a fourth beautiful place in whole Sweden

- From temple of sacrifice to the univesity

Why did vikings celebrated it?

Why?

- They are celebreating for honor the Gods of theirs

- They are thanking the each of Gods for looking after them

- And there they are asking the Gods for their wisches to became true

What they were doing?

- They sacrificed some animals and humans

- Someone with high position was director of the ritual

- He sang celebreating songs and read holy scrolls

- The blood from animals and humans was filled into a bowl

- The director of the ritual spill the blood on his body

What did they sacrifice?

- They sacrificed nine peaces of each cattle they breed

- They also sacrificed one human being each day of this sacrifice so nine of humans
