Walt Disney's LIfe
Walter Elias Disney born in Chicago. He was born to Elias Disney and Flora Call Disney. Though unknown, he would have a remarkable life ahead of him.
Walt Disney draws pictures for the McKinley High School newspaper. In addition, he attends classes at Chicago Acadmeny of Fine Arts since he wants to become a newspaper cartoonist. This was a start to his future career and the path he would follow for the rest of his life.
Walt Disney meets UB Iwerk and together form the Iwerks-Disney Commerical Artists, but it failed after a month. They got a new job, both at the same place, where Walt created an advertisement and short cartoons. After that company went bankrupt, he moved to Hollywood and created Disney Brothers Studio. This was the beginning of Walt Disney making cartoons and the road to his future successful company.
After the studio was renamed Walt Disney Studios, Walt makes the character Mickey Mouse and releases the sensational Steamboat Willie. This was his first release that got him onto the road of success.
Walt created The Three Little Pigs during the Great Depression, and it was a hit. Despite the Depression, his company was still able to make much money off of this. His wife gave birth to his first child this same year, and not too long after, they adopted a child.
Disney Studios develops a new camera. Disney's first length-film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. This is a game changing event, becuase it will be the start of the hundreds of movies created, and overall changed film production as a whole
Walt recieved his very first academy award. This would lead to peole who didn't know him yet to gain interest in him, and it was the first of many awards he'd win.
After Walt's idea for a huge amusement park in Los Angeles, Disneyland finally opened in 1955. It was a major tourist attraction, and played a big role in the success and fame of the company.
December 15, 1966, Walt dies of lung cancer, just a few years before Disney World opens.
