My life as a dancer

Introduction

My passion for dance started when I went to nursery where I joined the Baby Ballet group.

So, I was taken out of the class by my mum. After that, my passion for dance stopped for several years!

Introduction

Sadly, I didn't really get along with the half an hour classes! (I just sat on the floor and sucked my toes ...)

My mum booked me in for my first lesson at the Guttman, where the dance school was called Castielli, where I have been ever since.

But one day, 6 years later, I fell in love with dance once again after prancing round the garden.

To start off with I went on a Tuesday and mixed and matched between two partners; Renne and Roanne.

Training

I instantly, made friends and started dancing with a girl called Brooke. Then an experienced dancer joined called Evie and we got along straight away. To this day I still dance with her.

Training

But, as I got older and younger people joined the class

It became a bit babyish. So I changed my class to a Wednesday for a Tuesday.

My teachers are called Christina and Janet who own the family business. We practice all our age group dances to certain style music.

ME!!!

Every year, there are 8 competitions (including Grand Nationals). Some of them include...

Aylesbury, Hemel-Hempstead and Stains.

I have recently entered the Aylesbury dance competition. I was really nervous when I arrived and really doubted myself. But nothing went as I imagined...

Competition

Competitions

Every dance comp listed except Aylesbury is a qualifiying comp. If you qualify, which is coming in top 3, you automatically go to GN. This is where you can become a uk champion!

Surprisingly, I came first in disco solos, first in disco pairs and first in rock'n'roll!

I have recently started dancing in a harder category, so to achieve that felt AMAZING!!!

Disco Freestyle

At my dance, we dance to a range of different styles of music. Some styles of dance are:

Hip-Hop

Rock'n'Roll

Styles

Street Dance

Jazz

Styles

Contemporary

Tap

Baby Ballet is Ballet for Children/Babies who want to learn to dance at an early age!

There are three meanings of tap.

One of them is the tap that has water come out of it. Second, is tapping/prodding someone. The final one is when you have special shoes that make a loud tapping noise on the ground.

Glossary

Category means a certain group or age group that you are put in.

Glossary

Qualify/Qualifying means you upgrade, at the end of the dance year, to a harder comp.

Thank you for reading my text.

I hope you enjoyed it!
