What is CPR?

What is CPR?

Cardiopulmonary rescussitation is an emergency procedure used when one's heart stops beating.

This manually preserves brain function by forcefully circulating blood.

Signs Someone Needs CPR:

  • Lack of consciousness
  • Gasping breaths
  • No pulse
  • Person is not breathing

Always begin compressions right away. There are little to no adverse affects of beginning CPR even if the patient does not ultimately need it.

Compressions: How To

Compressions:

  • Always delegate for someone to call 911 and get an AED before/ while doing compressions.
  • Push hard on the menubrium, do not be afraid if a bone breaks.
  • Compressions are to be done 100-120 compressions/minute.
  • Many are familiar with the Bee Gee's "Stayin' Alive", but the tune to "Baby Shark" is also great to set they rhythym for compressions.
