Information

You will be amazed at the Hohe Tauern National Park, without even having seen it. Since the facts and figures alone are impressive. With a surface area covering 1856 square kilometres it is by far the biggest nature conservation area in the entire alpine area. It was set up in 1981 and at that time was Austria’s first National Park. That alone shows the exceptional position and the uniqueness of the Hohe Tauern National Park. And that isn’t even mentioning the beauty and the variety of the National Park. The East Tyrolean Hohe Tauern holiday region includes the districts of Kals am Großglockner, Matrei, Prägraten am Großvenediger, Virgen and St. Johann im Walde..
